Bridge to Clemson | TCTC (1)

Designed for a select group of academically talented first year students, the Bridge to Clemson program is a distinctive academic transfer program available by invitation only. Students must first apply for admission to Clemson University (Clemson) to receive consideration for the program. Beginning with a strong first-year academic experience at Tri-County Technical College (Tri-County), the Bridge to Clemson program includes targeted academic advising, student support services, and a residential and student lifecomponent - all of which are designed to help studentsmeet the Bridge admissions requirements and successfully transfer to Clemson. Advisors from both institutions assist students with selecting courses that transfer to Clemson. The successful collaboration between Tri-County and Clemson allows students to make progress in their intended Clemson major during theirfirst year atTri-County while preparing to enroll at Clemson beginning their second year. The Bridge program staff at bothTri-County and Clemson are committed to providing students with the educational tools and services they need to succeed.

Our Vision

The Bridge to Clemson program will be a national model of a collaborative transfer partnership that intentionally delivers high-quality programs and services designed to provide a transformative educational experience to students.

Our Mission

The Bridge to Clemson Program provides a pathway for successful transfer to Clemson University for all Bridge Program students. Through the delivery of joint academic support and engagement programs and services, Bridge Program staff at Tri-County Technical College and Clemson University provide students with an integrated first-year experience that equips students with the tools and resources they need to meet their educational goals.

Academic Requirements

Participantsattend Tri-County for theirfirst-year beginning with the fall semester. Students are required to earn a minimum of 30 transferrable credits and a 2.50 grade point average (GPA) during their first-year at Tri-County. Credits and GPA must be earned atTri-County and after high school graduation. All transferrable courses must have an earned grade of "C" or better to count towards Bridge requirements for Clemson admissions. Students meeting Bridge requirements will be admitted to Clemson for the subsequent fall semester without being required to resubmit a Clemson admission application. Students who do not meet these requirements are encouraged to apply for admission to Clemson at a later date.

While grades earned atTri-County will not subsequently be included in a student's Clemson grade point ratio (GPR), the grades and credits a student earns during the Bridge year will count toward determining the student's eligibility for the South Carolina LIFE scholarship.

Community Living and the Residential Life Requirement

Community living is one of the most important experiences for a first-year college student. Bridge to Clemson students live in the Lightsey Bridge and Thornhill Village communities on the main campus of Clemson University with Clemson Home. Upper-class resident community mentors (RCMs) coordinate social and academic programs and they are available to assist students throughout the year. Daily weekday transit service is provided to the Tri-County Pendleton campus when Tri-County classes are in session.

Please Note: The Bridge to Clemson program is located on our Pendleton Campus: 7900 Hwy 76, Pendleton, SC 29670.
