Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (2024)

You can check your browsing history in Chrome. You can also continue browsing what you’ve already started on a desktop or laptop computer, and find related searches.

If you don’t want a record of pages you visited in Chrome, you can delete all or some of your browsing history. If you delete your browsing history, it takes effect on all devices where you're signed in to Chrome and sync your history to your Google Account.

Separately, you can also delete your Google search history from your account.

What your History lists

Your History lists the pages you've visited on Chrome in the last 90 days. It doesn't store:

  • Chrome pages like chrome://settings
  • Pages you’ve visited in private browsing
  • Deleted pages from your browsing history

Tip: If you're signed in to Chrome and sync your history, then your History also shows pages you’ve visited on your synced devices.

Find your history

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (1).
  2. At the top right,tap More Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (2) Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (3) History.
    • If your address bar is at the bottom, swipe up on the address bar. Tap History Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (4).
  3. To visit a site, tap the entry.
    • To open the site in a new tab, touch and hold the entry. At the top right, tap MoreCheck & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (5) Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (6) Open in new tab.
    • To copy the site, touch and hold the entry. At the top right, tap MoreCheck & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (7) Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (8) Copy link.

Delete your history

  1. On your Android device, open Chrome Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (9).
  2. At the top right, tap More Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (10) Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (11) History.
    • If your address bar is at the bottom, swipe up on the address bar. Tap History Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (12).
  3. Tap Delete browsing data.
  4. Next to "Time range:"
    • To delete a portion of your history, select the dates.
    • To delete everything, tap All time.
  5. Check the box next to "Browsing history."
  6. Uncheck any other data you don't want to delete.
  7. Tap Delete data.

Delete an itemfrom your history

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (13).
  2. At the top right,tap More Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (14) Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (15) History.
    • If your address bar is at the bottom, swipe up on the address bar before you tapHistory Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (16).
  3. Find the entry you want to delete.
  4. To the right, tap Remove Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (17).

To delete multiple items:

  1. Touch and hold an entry.
  2. Select other entries you want to delete.
  3. At the top right, tap RemoveCheck & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (18).

Tips:

  • To search for something specific, at the top right, tap Search Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (19).
  • You can remove an item from a specific site’s history while on that site:
    • Tap Page info Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (20) Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (21) Last visited Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (22) Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (23) Remove Check & delete your Chrome browsing history - Android (24).

Remove an image from New Tab page

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open a new tab.
  2. To remove an image, touch and hold it.
  3. Select Remove.

Browse privately

If you don’t want Chrome to save your browsing history at all, you can browse in private with Incognito mode.

If you use a Chromebook at work or school, your network administrator can turn off browsing history. If history is off, your History won't list pages you've visited. Learn about using a managed Chrome device.
