This weekend after months of training I put myself through my biggest physical and mental challenge so far. I ran the gruelling 26.2 miles of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon all in aid of raising funds for the very deserving Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.I'm incredible proud of my city for such an event, spectators lined the streets to give us the much needed support, volunteers for the event did a fantastic job and despite the pain I'm feeling today it was all worth it. Those of you know know me will know I'm not a runner and the switching to alcohol-free beer has been noticed by many!It wasn't about the time for me - it was really about 'getting it done' and today I feel like I can achieve anything (well, except for a set of stairs).Also a very special mention to my colleagues from Consult Red who (without my knowledge) came out on the day to show their support - it means the world!This is one last push to say please, if you can - my page is still open for donations to this incredible cause (I only have about £40 left to hit my target) - link is in the comments below 👇

Called it!As a sports fan I absolutely welcome the introduction of this expanded service from Sky who have moved swiftly to beat their competitors to the punch. Plus it means even more Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos Rugby League Club so I'm sold.https://lnkd.in/gPQ8ZyWD

That's a wrap for RDK Tech Summit 2024 - a lot of great discussions with customers, conversations, panels and looking to the future.A few key takeaways for me were:🤝 Collaboration is keyMany of the presenters were pushing for more contributions to the RDK, and in particular working collaboratively on projects♻️ Sustainability in broadband CPEMore can (and should) be done to reduce the carbon footprint over the Gateway device's lifespan. Perhaps more surprisingly the carbon during manufacturing the physical device only accounts for around 12% of the lifetime impact, with the majority being when the device is being used in the home. Effort is required from Operators, OEMs, SoC vendors and other players to tackle this one!🖥️ Optimising the build processComcast engineers alone are compiling ~3,000 builds per day, each at around 1.5 hours (that equates to a phenomenal amount of engineering time), so planned optimisations to the build process are absolutely needed to improve engineering effectiveness.🔮 DAC is the future, but it's here nowCapitalising on the modularity and flexibility that is provided through Digital Application Containers (DAC) seemed to be universally agreed as the approach to unlock more from the humble gateway. Great strides have been made by the likes of Consult Red, Deutsche Telekom and Liberty Global but availability of more apps and services in RDK is key.I look forward to seeing what progress is made between now and the Global Summit in September
