Virginia Tech men's basketball to host a priority 4-star center this weekend (2024)

Virginia Tech men’s basketball coach Mike Young has been busy with the transfer portal and making additions to his roster for the 2024-25 season after he saw a mass exodus of players enter the transfer portal. He has built a roster for next season that will be athletic and fun to watch.

As for the future in Blacksburg, the veteran coach will host a priority four-star recruit Friday, someone who has been on Young’s radar for some time.

Four-star center Christian Gudark will be visiting the Hokies this weekend in a huge recruiting weekend for football and basketball. The 6-foot-10 Gudark is a very good post player at both ends of the floor for Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. The Fairfax, Virginia native visited Virginia Tech during his freshman season and will return this weekend. He also has a visit scheduled for ACC for foe Notre Dame from June 23-25. Virginia Tech offered him a scholarship in February.

Gurdak had a good spring AAU season for Team Takeover and impressed scouts who watched the 96th-ranked prospect in the Class of 2025 last month.

"A 6-foot-9 low post threat who is ranked No. 96 overall in the national class, Gurdak was a sheer force on the block. The product of Washington D.C. operated with his back to the basket by overpowering defenders and carving out space to score primarily off reverse lay-ins. Gurdak will find success in an offense that values post-entry as he has a soft touch, great footwork, and a body ready to compete at the power conference level.Clemsonoffered Gurdak this week whileMaryland, Notre Dame, Penn State, andVirginia Techare all involved."

Virginia Tech needs a low-post threat in the ACC and a player like Gurdak would fit that bill. An impactful big would be big for the future of the Hokies.
