Where do you draw inspiration from? (2024)

Inspiration can come from the most unlikely of sources. You can draw upon inspiration at any time. This week I have filled my cup, and I am feeling inspired. This caused me to pause, and think about where that comes from.

So, here goes.

Some people look to their idols, to the giants of their industry, to their family, friends, and their heroes.

Personally, I draw a lot of inspiration from my family, music, peers, and my friends.

My family keeps me grounded; they inspire me to want to be better today than I was yesterday.

My family lifts me up when I am low and give me perspective when I lose it.

My parents gave me a foundation for my life, they set me on my path and gave me everything that I needed. They taught me right from wrong and are the core of my personal values and every day they inspire me to live up to them.

My wife and my children give me a sense of purpose, support, and the drive to reach and strive. They inspire me with a sense of community, and a responsibility to provide, preserve and protect what we have. They are the center of my universe and inspire me to maintain balance within that universe.

My sister is the equilibrium in all elements of my life. She is a peer, my best friend, my trusted advisor, and the most vital link between my past and present. She inspires me to be the best I can be at whatever I pursue.

I love music, I can listen to almost anything. I hear things in lyrics that many don’t. I can feel the songwriter's pain and their elation all the same. Music inspires me to be creative and expressive. It inspires me to share and create.

My peers give me a sense of community. They help me to feel at home and supported no matter where I am. They give me the confidence to go forward as a professional and allow me to make my mark as a professional too. They inspire me to create value.

My friendship circle is tight and built upon trust and respect. My friends keep my feet on the ground when my head is in the clouds. They keep me accountable and in turn give me that push when the flywheel starts to slow. They ask questions that others won’t. They inspire me to be myself and give me the space to do that too. They are motley and diverse, as is their inspiration.

I urge you to think about this from time to time, it made me feel warm inside. What filled my cup was gratitude.

I also encourage you to think about whom you inspire. I am going to do that too, as soon as I hit publish on this article.

So, who or what inspires you?

Lead well.

Have fun.
