Despite the long history of viewer rebellions that happen after a host disappeared, producers seem to have done it again.

What happened to Elizabeth Hopkins from Fox 25?
Reports suggest that, after 13 years with the network, Elizabeth is no longer with Fox 25. While there has been no explanation as to exactly what went down, many viewers have speculated that it wasn't Elizabeth's choice to leave her job. In an email sent by Todd Brown, the Vice President of the Boston 25, he shared a short message to the news team that announced Elizabeth's departure.
"Team, I wanted to share that Elizabeth Hopkins is no longer with the station effective immediately. We wish her well in her future endeavors," the note read.
The news of Elizabeth's departure came just days after Sarah Burgess, the station's News Director, resigned from the station, a move that many believe wasn't her decision.
It isn't clear what might have motivated these potential firings, but plenty of fans were upset by the news.

"Absolutely disgusting. We watched the Boston 25 morning news every morning and I was wondering where the hell she was. I Googled it this morning and saw this thread. Gene and Elizabeth had amazing chemistry. Absolutely horrible decision!" one person wrote under a Twitter post announcing the news.
"Just like that ?? Did they ever announce she was leaving ?? Where is she ?? She was the best ..." another person added.

Elizabeth has been radio silent on her social media channels in the aftermath of the news, but many are paying close attention to find out where she might land following what seems to be a forced ouster.
Fans are also blowing up her social media channels wondering what happened to her, but it seems like she may be reluctant to explain what happened, at least initially.
It's possible that Fox 25 simply decided to shake things up, and made the decision to bring new talent in to fill Elizabeth's role. It's also possible that there was some other problem. Whatever the case might be, we won't know more about exactly what went down unless Elizabeth decides to fill in her built-in social media audience. It's obvious that she managed to connect with viewers and will be missed.
